Lewis Eakins, PhD, CPP

Lewis A. Eakins, PhD, CPP has over 45 years of law enforcement, emergency management, private investigations, and security consulting experience. He recently retired as the Vice President for Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness at Ivy Tech Community College System in Indiana encompassing 19 campuses and 170,000 students. His department had oversight for Enterprise Risk Management, Public Safety, Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Environmental Health & Safety, and Federal Compliance. He currently serves as the President of Eakins Consulting Services, Inc. a firm he established in 1986.
Dr. Eakins has undergraduate degrees in Police Science, Criminal Justice, and Business Administration; an M.S. in Security Management; and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration with a concentration in Homeland Security Policy and Coordination. He is a 2015 graduate of FEMA’s National Emergency Management Executive Academy, Cohort III.
Dr. Jenni Hesterman, Colonel, US Air Force (retired)

Dr. Jennifer Hesterman is a retired Air Force colonel who served in three Pentagon tours and commanded in the field multiple times. Her final assignment was Vice Commander, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, where she led installation security, including protection of Air Force One. She is a counterterrorism and soft target hardening expert, working with cultural institutions, businesses, sports venues, educational institutions, houses of worship, and critical infrastructure sites to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities. Dr. Hesterman is also an expert witness, rendering professional opinions, analysis and testimony for premises liability cases related to security deficiencies. She is a director for the ASIS Professional Standards Board, and advises the Homeland Security Training Institute, the Crisis Response Journal, and 2 DHS Security Centers of Excellence. Her book Soft Target Hardening: Protecting People from Attack was the ASIS Security Industry Book of the Year in 2015. The second edition received the same honors in 2019 and was the Social Sciences Book of the Year for Taylor & Francis.
Sam Sangobowale, MBA

Samuel O. Sangobowale is the Director of Security, and the HQ Facility Security Officer at Systems Planning and Analysis (SPA). With nearly 20 years of experience, Sam has built and scaled security, risk, and compliance programs across high-growth technology companies and large, mission-critical enterprises—supporting regulated environments and U.S. government customers.
He has led security strategy and program execution aligned to frameworks including NIST, ISO 27001, CMMC, NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), and Intelligence Community directives. Throughout his career, Sam has served as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and boards, translating complex risk into actionable governance decisions that strengthen resilience and enable business growth. He holds an MBA in Information Technology Management from Virginia Tech and a B.A. from the University of Virginia.
