This presentation explores various elements that contribute to or hinder resilience in the management and understanding of hybrid threats. It examines the critical role of collaborative defence strategies in enhancing the resilience of Norway's oil sector against emerging threats and emphasises the importance of knowledge sharing, vigilance, and adaptive capacities in maintaining operational security in the region.
The conflict in Ukraine has highlighted the importance of the petroleum industry in powering Europe, especially with increasing threats from state actors. Numerous drone sightings near offshore sites in autumn 2022 pressured authorities to deploy military personnel around oil facilities. These drone sightings, likely part of Russian hybrid warfare, posed challenges for both operators and authorities in maintaining situational awareness.
Based on both the speakers research and experience (thesis and peer reviewed article), this session will provide actionable insights for industry professionals on enhancing their resilience.
