Frank Scala – Senior Technology Consultant, Arup

Frank Scala is a Senior Technology Consultant in Arup’s Boston Office. Frank is responsible for all phases of analysis including reviewing building plans and architectural building technology issues, design concepts, security plan development and assistance with budget estimates.

He contributes to the design and administration of low-voltage system projects with knowledge of the latest technologies and installation practices. Franks experience also extends numerous years in the integration space providing real world experience in his designs. He has contributed to several award-winning buildings, in the physical security, and smart building space for design and consultation. He has also published in several trade journals in the buildings technology industry.

 

Mark Berger – President and Chief Product Officer, Securitech Group, Inc.

Mark is the President and Chief Product Officer of Securitech Group, Inc., an innovative high-security door locking manufacturer. Notable projects include the creation of custom life-safety automatic deadbolt door lock solutions for the classrooms at the new Sandy Hook School, custom emergency gate exit system for the New York City Transit Authority, and code-compliant multi-point deadbolt exit locks for the retail industry. A holder of several patents, Mark has served the industry and public in several volunteer positions, including President of DHI Security & Safety Professionals and Chair of ASIS International’s School Safety & Security Council, and currently serves as Chair of the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association’s Codes & Government Affairs Committee. Mark has also been a volunteer instructor in Crime Prevention for the NYPD for over 25 years and has presented on many industry panels.

 

Paul Timm – Director of Education Safety, Allegion

Paul Timm, Director of Education Safety at Allegion, is a board-certified Physical Security Professional (PSP) and the author of “School Security: How to Build and Strengthen a School Safety Program.” He was named one of the Most Influential People in Security in 2020 by Security Magazine. In addition to conducting numerous vulnerability assessments and his frequent keynote addresses, Paul is an experienced School Crisis Assistance Team volunteer through the National Organization for Victims Assistance (NOVA). He serves on the Campus Safety Conferences Advisory Board, the Advisory Council for the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools, the ASIS International School Safety and Security Council, and the Illinois Association of School Business Officials Risk Management Committee. He is certified in Vulnerability Assessment Methodology (VAM) through Sandia National Laboratories and the ALPHA vulnerability assessment methodology. Paul holds a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Moody Theological Seminary.
