Geopolitical risk is an increasingly important component of overall corporate risk, and responsibility for anticipation and mitigation is frequently falling on corporate security professionals. But geopolitical risks are often slow to manifest, and the impacts are frequently second and third-order, not direct. The gap between strategic foresight and tactical intelligence is a long-standing challenge, particularly in corporations that find themselves driven by quarterly cycles. One way to bridge the gap is through the use of geopolitical scenarios, which can assist organizations as they seek to anticipate, track, and mitigate geopolitical risk. In this session, we will explore some basic scenario techniques and applied use cases.

As businesses and organizations increasingly recognize the impact of geopolitical events on their international and even national operations, their internal information and intelligence cycles are often much shorter and more tactical. It is vital for those managing risk to balance strategic context with the tactical application.
