Effective Vulnerability Assessments for Critical Infrastructure

Critical infrastructure enables the function of modern societies and the vulnerability assessment of these systems is paramount for an effective risk management program. This webinar will focus on the following areas:

• Defining the assessment scope – how to account for dependencies without falling down the rabbit hole: Understand the infrastructure – define critical components- understanding what needs to be protected; Define the threat – protecting against everything usually results in protecting against nothing; Define unacceptable outcomes – protecting against all not ideal outcomes isn’t realistic; Setting vulnerability assessment criteria and expectations

This panel discussion made up from members of the Utilities Security Community, Investigations Community, and Physical Security Community will discuss the importance of vulnerability assessments of critical infrastructure including the identification of critical components and vulnerability assessment criteria.

• Learning about vulnerability assessment methodologies and providing perspectives on how to mitigate vulnerabilities, including physical security measures, cybersecurity measures, and emergency response measures.
