As Security Professionals or vendors in the Cannabis space, we must constantly review our policies and approach on controls in this ever-evolving space. Faced with changes in Florida Department of Health procedures, changes in economic prosperity and the need to produce in the climate being weighed heavily against Safety and Security needs, this course dives into Ingress and Egress controls, how we can set the tone and provide a safe barrier of entry to our employees and guests, while also controlling what is leaving at our egress points, and multiple access points throughout the facility. 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Attendees will be introduced to current challenges facing Security professionals in the Cannabis space as it relates to Ingress/Egress control at Cultivation facility. 
  • Attendees will be introduced to common threats and vulnerabilities that exist in Cultivation facilities as it relates to improper control of Ingress/Egress points.
  • Attendees will be introduced to bag/article checks and how this procedure can be used as another step in our efforts to combat Work Place Violence events (Firearms, large weapons) and to deter bulk theft. 
  • Attendees will be invited to engage and discuss Cultivation Ingress/Egress controls and how effective access control systems can assist in proper facility controls not only in Ingress/Egress locations but also throughout the facility.

Joshua Jordan-Gant, CPP, CFI has 18 years of Law Enforcement and Security experience. Mr. Gant’s expertise in Law Enforcement includes, High Risk Entry Team leadership experience, Public Information Officer duties, leading training and policy revisions in the area of Taser, Defensive Tactics and Firearms instruction, and is a graduate of the New Florida Detectives Academy. Mr. Gant’s experience in Private/Corporate security includes, loss prevention, Security/Asset Protection program development and implementation for large organizations, Work-Place Violence and Active Shooter education for Corporate, Federal, Private and Local governmental agencies, threat assessments, previous Armed/Unarmed guard leadership and 4.5 years of experience in Cannabis. Mr. Gant is currently a Sworn Reserve Police Officer in the State of Florida.  

Mr. Gant currently serves as the Senior Director of Asset Protection for AYR Wellness and its affiliates. In his current role he oversees all locations within the United States to include retail, warehouse, cultivation, and processing facilities. At his current posting, he oversees all Security (Physical/Guard), Investigations, Loss Prevention activities, Security/Work-Place Violence training and policy development.  

Prior to his time in Medical/Adult use cannabis Security, Mr. Gant served in Security Management/Consultant roles, for Prisoner transport firms, Federal Security Contractors, local Security contractors, hospices and for large corporate entities. Mr. Gant also has completed several consulting contracts in the areas of threat assessments, Security team development training, policy review, internal investigations, and theft/loss cases for medium to large size private industries.
